BRUTUS Magazine – Number 1063: Living with Dogs

BRUTUS is one of Japan’s most influential lifestyle magazines, bringing together design, food, travel, fashion, culture and everyday living through highly focused thematic issues.

Number 1063, “Living with Dogs”, is BRUTUS’s first major dog issue in six years. Rather than treating dogs simply as pets, the issue looks at how sharing life with a dog reshapes daily routines, relationships, homes and the way people experience their surroundings.

The issue moves between personal stories and practical inspiration: people and their dogs, places worth visiting together, dog-friendly hotels and destinations, memorable shop dogs, artworks inspired by dogs and the changing culture around living with animals in Japan. BRUTUS frames the subject through the broader idea that welcoming a dog into a home gradually changes the life around it.

Among the stories are photographer and writer David Marx with his dog Uzu, embroidery artist Kumi Kosuge, a selection of 16 recommended places to visit with dogs and portraits of beloved dogs that have become part of shops, neighbourhoods and everyday culture.
