Akira Minagawa travels Nordic Design
Akira Minagawa and Scandinavia
(Mina Perhonen)
Mina Perhonen Akira Minagawa guides you through the world of Scandinavian design.
<Mina Perhonen> is Finnish for minä = I, perhonen = butterfly,
and it is well-known that Akira Minagawa named it after his sympathy with the Scandinavian lifestyle and culture.
Since his first visit in the winter of 1986 at the age of 19, Minagawa has traveled to Scandinavia almost every year.
While accumulating time thinking about Scandinavian life and design like tree rings,
he has gazed upon and resonated with the masterpieces of his beloved designers, such as Alvar Aalto, Hans J. Wegner, Kaj Franck, and Poul Kjaerholm.
And in the early summer of 2024, Casa BRUTUS will accompany Minagawa on his journey to Scandinavia.
This is a guide to Nordic architectural design that follows the footsteps of great designers, introduces their collections, and explains their appeal from Akira Minagawa's perspective!
