Amid the waves of numerous brands sweeping the globe, Magazine B shares its perspective on well-balanced brands and uses print media to demonstrate the timeless values of individual brands. Defining a well-balanced brand by four standards—beauty, practicality, price, and philosophy—Magazine B offers unique insights and in-depth analysis of one well- balanced brand in one issue every month.
The 94th issue of Magazine B is 'Barbour', a lifestyle brand that has been in existence for the fifth generation and has been greatly loved by the British royal family and the public.
Barbour is a brand that was started by Scottish-born John Barber in 1894 in South Shields, England, by introducing oilskin workwear, a functional garment that protects the body against changeable weather. Since the introduction of iconic waxed cotton jackets such as bidale, beauport, and border, focusing on function and purpose, the brand has planted the image of 'waxed cotton jackets as Barbour' to the public while creating a culture of collecting vintage products and customizing and rewaxing. Barbour, which has been run as a family business for the fifth generation, has taken off as a lifestyle brand by adjusting fit to meet the needs of the times, changing styles, and increasing the accessibility of new generations through collaboration with a number of fashion brands.
