Woven Magazin – Issue 3: The Maker’s Impression
Woven Magazine exists to celebrate artists, craftsmen, and makers alike to share their stories of fear and triumph, risk and return.
Issue Three examines the unique capacity of the artist and designer to reflect the times in which we live, to express values and beliefs, and make small nudges towards a more inclusive and thoughtful world. Whether through a photograph, a canvas, or a finely tooled leather boot, art and design wield the power to challenge accepted norms, put life in perspective, connect communities, or dive into a deeper view of time. From a multitude of approaches and tools, we look at the way artists, entrepreneurs, and craftsmen and women leave their mark with a lasting impression.
From Brooklyn, New York to Costa Mesa, California; from Marfa, Texas to Chicago, Illinois, we share the impressions eight artists and craftsmen are leaving with their work, including photographers Bee & Rog Walker, painter and illustrator Kyle Steed, textile designers Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan of Ace & Jig, and sculptural fiber artist Doug Johnston.
